The Project Car
This is the project car a 1986 Scirocco with a 1.8L JH engine. After 340,000 kms of faithful service this engine was starting to show its age. I decided an engine transplant was in order. At first, I thought rebuild but as I did some research and got prices, I realized upgrading the engine was a viable option.
The Donor Engine
This is the donor engine purchased from a wrecker, a low milage 2.0L ABA engine from 1996 Jetta. By far the simplest way to accomplish this upgrade is to put a 1.8L cylinder head on the ABA block so that you can retain this original fuel injection and related wiring and electronics.
